Zoe Saldana (born June 19 1978) was born to Asalia Saldana & Aridio Saldana in Passaic New Jersey. Her father is Dominican and her mother Puerto Rican. Her mother raised her mother who lived in Queens. After she turned 10 years old, old her family and she relocated towards the Dominican Republic, where they lived for the next seven years. Zoe noticed a strong passion for dancing while living abroad. She started training at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy to learn ballet, along with a myriad of other dance styles. The lessons she learned were not just a wonderful opportunity for an active, eager child, but also proved to be the perfect precursor for her career as a professional actor. Zoe moved with her family to the United States at age 17 where she developed an increased enthusiasm for dance. And it was there that her interest in theater performances increased.
