Ross began her collegiate professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in high school. It was a long time before Ross hit the sand and turned pro. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year honors and was also an All-American. She was also an integral player for helping the Trojans to make it to it to the Final Four. The second season of her career, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. Over her final 2 years in the Trojans team, she led the team to win a national championship every year. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross who was an USC international relations student, was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the chance to watch her daughter become an international beach volleyball star. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. Her mother is still close to her heart. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her, both at and off the beaches.
